Pickleball Courts in Boulder, CO

Boulder answers parking at four of its five venues. The pages for the North Boulder, East Boulder and South Boulder recreation centres each carry the word "Parking" answered "Yes" under an ADA Accessibility heading. That is the whole statement: no lot size, no fee, no time limit.

Chautauqua Park is the exception. Its page is headed "Paid Parking in effect Memorial weekend to Labor Day", with paid parking "on summer weekends and holidays at Chautauqua and nearby neighborhood streets", and a Park-to-Park service that "provides free satellite parking and shuttle service". Foothills Community Park publishes nothing about parking. Restrooms are stated at all five venues.

The City does not say when its courts are busy. Outdoors, South Boulder sets aside "8:30 to 11:30 am on 6 outdoor courts" every day, and North Boulder "7:30 to 10:30 am on 4 outdoor courts" on Tuesdays and Thursdays plus "6 to 9 pm on 4 outdoor courts" on Wednesdays and Fridays. East Boulder, Chautauqua and Foothills have no scheduled session.

Outside those windows the courts are first come, or reservable at $10 an hour up to 7.5 days ahead, two hours a day at most, with no refunds for weather. Foothills is different again: its four courts exist from 7 a.m. to noon daily, and after noon the rink goes back to inline hockey.

The City names no surface for any pickleball court in Boulder. It names what they are drawn on: "Pickleball play is on tennis courts with pickleball lines", says the Racket Sports page, "Except for Foothills Community Park which is a designated inline hockey rink." The nine indoor courts are basketball gymnasium floors at drop-in times only, because "pickleball nets are not available outside listed drop-in hours".

The nets column of the table reads "Rolling" on every row. At Foothills there are none to roll: "Please bring your own portable pickleball nets. Nets are not available onsite."

When this was read South Boulder's eight outdoor courts were closed for "court resurfacing and restriping" from August 17, with a reopening the City called tentative. Lighting is not stated for any venue.

Every one of Boulder's five published venues is free to play, on the City's own sentence, "Courts are first come and free to all park visitors, a reserved court is available to secure your date and time". Boulder is the first Colorado city on this site. It is one of seven cities on this site with a free court, and, with Cape Coral, one of only two where every published venue is free. It is also one of the few operators on this site that publishes a written drop-in schedule for both its indoor and its outdoor courts.

The City runs classes, lessons and a seasonal adult league at its three recreation centres. Reservation fees doubled from $5 to $10 an hour on November 14, 2025, the first increase since 2012. Tom Watson Park appears on the Racket Sports page only under "Additional Tennis Courts" with the figure 4, a tennis count, so no pickleball number is published for it.
