Cities we publish in Boulder County

What we cover here

One city in Boulder County is published here: Boulder, with five venues and twenty-nine courts checked against the City's own pages, twenty outdoor and nine indoor. Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette and Erie have not been read against a named source, and neither have the County's own parks and open space lands.

The five sites are three recreation centres, each with outdoor courts on the tennis courts beside it and three indoor courts in the gymnasium at drop-in times, and two parks, one of them a hockey rink lined for pickleball in the mornings. Two further Boulder sites are named rather than dropped. Tom Watson Park appears on the City's Racket Sports page with a tennis figure only, and the City says new courts are scheduled to open there in spring 2026. East Boulder Community Park appears as a lighting note and a project, with courts planned for spring 2027, and no count.

How the courts are spread

Within the city the courts cluster at the recreation centres. South Boulder Recreation Center is the largest with eleven, eight outdoor and three indoor; North Boulder Recreation Center has seven and East Boulder Community Center five. Twenty-three of the twenty-nine are at a building with a gymnasium and a front desk. The two parks hold the other six: four at Foothills Community Park on an inline hockey rink that is a pickleball venue from 7 a.m. to noon, and two at Chautauqua Park on one tennis court, in a park open 5:00 am to 11:00 pm.

All twenty outdoor courts are lines on something else, sixteen on tennis courts and four on a rink, and the City's nets column reads "Rolling" on every row. The nine indoor courts exist only at the drop-in times the City prints, three in each gymnasium, included with the centre's daily entry fee or pass. Price does not split the set: every venue is free to walk onto, and a reservation costs $10 an hour everywhere. Condition did, on the day this was read. South Boulder's eight outdoor courts were closed for resurfacing and restriping, tentatively until September 11.

What is missing

This is a page about one city under a county heading. Longmont is the obvious next city and it has not been read. Neither have Louisville, Lafayette or Erie, and neither has Boulder County's own parks department.

Inside Boulder the gaps are smaller and better dated than usual. The City lists five more tennis sites (Arapahoe Ridge, Columbine Park, Knollwood, Martin Park and North Palo Park, two courts each) and none of them carries a pickleball count, so none of them is a venue here.

Two silences remain. Lighting is stated for no venue: "Lights are not guaranteed for use of courts after sunset" is the City's only sentence on the subject. Surface is stated for none. No club, school, HOA or commercial venue appears here either, because none of them publishes a source that has been read.

Questions about Boulder County

How many pickleball courts are there in Boulder County?

No honest page can tell you the county total. What has been checked is 29 courts across five venues, all in the City of Boulder, each with a source and a date: twenty outdoor from the City's court table and nine indoor from its drop-in schedule. Longmont, Louisville, Lafayette, Erie and the County's own parks have not been read.

Are the courts on this page free?

Yes, and confirmed rather than assumed: "Courts are first come and free to all park visitors, a reserved court is available to secure your date and time." A reservation costs $10 an hour. Indoor drop-in at the three recreation centres is included with the daily entry fee or a pass, so those nine courts cost whatever the door costs.

Where can I play indoors in Boulder County?

At the three City of Boulder recreation centres, three courts each, at the drop-in times the City prints: Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at North Boulder, Monday afternoon and evening and Sunday afternoon at East Boulder, and Sunday morning and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at South Boulder, with none there from June through October.

Wider area

We have not built the Colorado state page yet. A state page needs at least three published cities before it is a document rather than a copy of the one city below it, and Colorado has fewer than that today, so there is nothing honest to link up to. Everything above is checked against a named source; how we verify explains the ladder we work down and what we refuse to do.
