About this place

Four pickleball courts on an inline hockey rink, the one Boulder venue that is not a tennis court with pickleball lines, in a 65.2-acre park in North Boulder.

Read moreShow less

The count is stated twice: the City's table reads "4 pickleball / Rolling / Foothills Community Park", and the park's own page says the City "added pickleball courts to the large rink for four pickleball courts". The Racket Sports page singles the site out in its general statement: "Pickleball play is on tennis courts with pickleball lines. Except for Foothills Community Park which is a designated inline hockey rink."

The park has picnic shelters, a dog park, playgrounds and sports fields, and the City says restrooms are open year-round with limited hours in fall and winter.

Getting there

800 Cherry Ave, Boulder, CO 80304, as the City's page prints it, phone 303-413-7200. The US Census address file holds no record of this address, so it resolved through OpenStreetMap, which matched "Foothills Community Park, 800, Cherry Avenue, Promontory North, Boulder, Boulder County, Colorado, 80304" at house-number level and placed it in the incorporated place Boulder.

The City publishes nothing about parking at this park. Restrooms, drinking fountains, shade structures and sidewalks are listed under accessibility, and RTD Access among the amenities. The page gives no park hours beyond the pickleball window.

What to expect

A morning venue. The City states the arrangement in full: the courts "are available for reservation and use from 7 a.m. to noon, seven days a week", and "The rink is available for general public use and all sports from noon to close." The Racket Sports page adds the other half of the rule: if a court is not reserved, "the use is designated as inline hockey court". So a reservation, at $10 an hour, is what makes the rink a pickleball court in the morning.

Inside the window, play is "first come and free to all park visitors". Four courts is two games at once. There is no scheduled drop-in session, no lighting statement, no surface statement, and no word on how busy the rink gets.

Four pickleball courts on an inline hockey rink, the one Boulder venue that is not a tennis court with pickleball lines: "We heard your feedback and added pickleball courts to the large rink for four pickleball courts." The City states the arrangement in full - the courts are "available for reservation and use from 7 a.m. to noon, seven days a week", and from noon to close the rink reverts to general public use and all sports - so pickleball here has a morning window, not a day. It is also the only Boulder venue where the City says in words that you must bring a net: "Please bring your own portable pickleball nets. Nets are not available onsite." Free and first come inside the window, or reservable at $10 an hour. The park is 65.2 acres in North Boulder with restrooms open year-round on limited winter hours, a dog park, playgrounds and programmed sports fields. Lighting and surface are not stated.

Do you run Foothills Community Park?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
