Why this matters here

Lights decide whether a court is usable after work for most of the year, and Raleigh Parks states the answer for every location. Nine of the eleven park locations are lit and two are not: Fred Fletcher Park and Southgate Park are marked No in the department's table, so those two are daylight-only and are absent from this page. Raleigh Parks says the lighting runs on a timer until 10 p.m., and Method Community Park's own page repeats it as "Lighting on timer from dusk to 10 p.m." Carolina Pines describes push-button lighting from dusk to 10 p.m., so the lights there are switched on by players. North Hills Park's lights were being upgraded through late August 2026, with night play closed and completion targeted for 8 September.

What puts a venue on this list

A venue publishes here when a source states that its courts are lit. For all nine on this page the statement is a Yes in the Lights column of Raleigh Parks' pickleball table. The city's GIS Athletic Courts layer agrees on every one of the nine, recording Lighting as Yes on each pickleball polygon at those parks. The two absent venues are absent for different reasons. Fred Fletcher Park is stated as unlit in both sources, and the park page's tennis court entry likewise records no lights. Southgate Park is stated as No by the department while its GIS record leaves the lighting field empty, so the department's statement is published. In both cases a source has said there are no lights, which is different from silence. No source states the hour the lights come on, beyond "dusk", or whether a timer is seasonal.

What is deliberately not on this list

A venue whose lighting we have not checked is not on this list. Unknown is not the same as unlit, and it is certainly not the same as lit.

Questions about this list

How late can I play under lights in Raleigh?

Until 10 p.m. at the lit locations. Raleigh Parks states the lights run on a timer, and Method Community Park's page gives it as dusk to 10 p.m. Carolina Pines Park describes push-button lighting on the same window, so there you switch them on yourself.

Are the lights at North Hills Park working?

They may not be. Raleigh Parks posted that lighting upgrades at North Hills Park began on 24 August 2026 with completion targeted for 8 September; daytime play reopened on 2 September but night play was still closed on 3 September. Check the park's page before an evening trip.
