The City's history: "The 8.7570 acres of property for this park were purchased in 1977. The park was originally called Division Park for the street on which it is located, but was renamed for Congressman Frank Tejeda by ordinance of City Council passed on Sept. 12, 1996." The City records Tejeda as a Marine and Vietnam veteran and a Congressman for District 28 from 1993 until his death in January 1997.

The tennis courts are lighted too. Restrooms, a softball field for rental, bleachers, a playground and grills complete the list.
