The City's history: "Monterrey Park was established in 1962 on 51 acres purchased by the City for park purposes using funds from a 1961 bond issue. Originally named Linda Vista Park, it was re-named in October 1963 in honor of San Antonio's sister city in Mexico." The community centre on the site was renamed the Sonny Melendrez Community Center in May 1997.
The amenity list runs to soccer and softball fields for rental, basketball, a 0.43-mile trail of decomposed granite and asphalt, a public art display and a water feature. The City's gallery includes a photograph captioned "Pickleball Courts".
