About this place

One pickleball court, and the City is unusually direct about what kind: its amenity list reads "1 Pickleball court (striped tennis court)". That parenthesis is the whole venue in five words: a tennis court with pickleball lines on it, on the East Side of Saint Paul at Arlington and Arkwright. It is the smallest published venue in the city, and among the smallest anywhere in this directory.

Read moreShow less

There is one playing surface and it is primarily a tennis court. If anyone is using it for tennis there is no pickleball here at all. That is different from a two-court venue where you might wait, and very different from Edgcumbe's four courts across town.

Getting there

400 Arlington Ave. E., Saint Paul, MN 55130, which the Census geocoder matched to St. Paul city, Ramsey County. This is the East Side, north of Phalen. The City publishes no parking guidance, and on a neighbourhood park the realistic expectation is the street.

What to expect

One court, shared with tennis, and almost nothing else on the record. Saint Paul's facility pages are amenity inventories: they list what is at a site and say nothing about opening hours, cost, lighting or surface. So there is one striped court at this address, and the City states nothing about when it is open, what it costs, whether it is lit or what it is made of.

One pickleball court, striped onto a tennis court, and the City says so in the amenity line itself, "1 Pickleball court (striped tennis court)". It is the smallest published venue in Saint Paul, and being a single overlaid court it is also the least reliable: a tennis match takes the whole venue.

Questions about Arlington/Arkwright Park

How many courts are there?

One, striped onto a tennis court. The City's amenity list reads "1 Pickleball court (striped tennis court)", the only venue in Saint Paul where it spells out the overlay in the count line itself.

Is it lit?

Not stated. No Saint Paul facility page states lighting for a pickleball court either way, so all six published venues read "not stated" on the point.

What if someone is playing tennis?

Then there is no pickleball here. With one court and no dedicated surface, tennis and pickleball cannot both happen.

Where else can I play nearby?

Duluth and Case Recreation Center has two courts on the East Side. Across the city, Edgcumbe Recreation Center's four are the largest published count in Saint Paul.

Is this really the smallest venue in the city?

Of the six published, yes: one court against two at four venues and four at Edgcumbe. It is also among the smallest venues anywhere in this directory, alongside single-court sites in Madison, Austin and Saint Paul's own park system.

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
