Cities we publish in Los Angeles County
What we cover here
One city in Los Angeles County is published here: Long Beach, with eight venues and forty-eight courts checked against the City's own pages, twenty-three of them dedicated to pickleball on the City's per-venue wording. Long Beach is the third California city on this site and the first in this county. The County also holds the City of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Torrance, Santa Monica and many other municipalities, as well as parks run by the County itself. None of those has been read against a named source, so none appears here.
Within Long Beach three City sites are named and not published. Somerset Park has a stated count, "Dual striping 8 pickleball on 2 tennis courts", at an address, "1500 E. Carson", that the Census geocoder places in the neighbouring city of Carson. The Billie Jean King Tennis Center is credited with four shared-use courts on the City's pickleball page and "8 Pickleball Courts, Fully Lighted" on its own. Whaley Park's line carries no number at all.

How the courts are spread
What we cover sits inside one city, and inside that city it splits on a fact the operator states on every line: whether a court is dedicated to pickleball or shared with something else. Twenty-three of the forty-eight are dedicated: eight at DeForest Park, four each at Silverado, Veterans and Marina Vista, two at Junipero Beach and one at Bayshore. The other twenty-five are eight lines on one tennis court at Veterans, four dual-striped courts "for either tennis or pickleball" at Marina Vista, two dual-striped at Bayshore, three "on a shared sports court" at El Dorado Park West and eight "shared-use" courts at the El Dorado Park Tennis & Pickleball Center. Veterans Park is the largest venue by count at twelve.
Everything else a county page could sort by is thin. Lighting is stated at one venue, the tennis centre, "8 Pickleball Courts, Fully Lighted", and the other seven carry no lighting answer either way. Price is stated at that same venue and nowhere else. Hours are stated at two: "Dawn to Dusk" at DeForest, and 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays at the tennis centre. Indoor or outdoor is stated nowhere.

What is missing
This is a Long Beach page under a county heading, and nothing here estimates the rest of the county. The City of Los Angeles, Pasadena, Torrance and Santa Monica have not been read, nor have the County's own parks, nor Cerritos and Lakewood. A city publishes here once three of its venues carry a named source and a date.
Inside Long Beach the gaps are of three kinds. One is a boundary: Somerset Park is a City of Long Beach park at an address the Census places in Carson, and it will publish the day that address resolves inside Long Beach. One is contradiction: the Billie Jean King Tennis Center's four courts on one City page and eight on another, and the City's own total of "24 dedicated pickleball courts" against a list that adds to twenty-three. One is silence: no surface, no nets, no indoor-or-outdoor word, no price at any park, and lighting at one venue in eight. Clubs, schools and commercial venues may hold courts across the county, and none of them publishes a source these pages have read.

Questions about Los Angeles County
How many pickleball courts are there in Los Angeles County?
No honest page can tell you. What has been checked is 48 courts across eight venues, all in Long Beach, each with a source and a date you can see. The City of Long Beach itself names three more sites that cannot be published, and every other municipality in the county is unread.
Why is only Long Beach listed?
It is the only municipality in the county whose courts have been confirmed against a named source. A city appears here once three or more of its venues carry a source_url and a date_checked. Los Angeles, Pasadena, Torrance, Santa Monica and the County's own parks have not been read.
Which venues here have lights?
One: the El Dorado Park Tennis & Pickleball Center, "8 Pickleball Courts, Fully Lighted", open until 9:30 p.m. on weekdays. The other seven Long Beach venues carry no lighting answer either way, and they are recorded as not stated rather than as unlit.
Are any of the courts free?
The City does not say so, and no page here assumes it. Its park courts are first come, first served, which is a play format; the one stated price is at the tennis centre, $5 per person for drop-in play and $10 per court per hour to reserve.
Wider area
The California state page lists every county and city we publish. Everything above is checked against a named source; how we verify explains the ladder we work down and what we refuse to do.
