About this place
Twelve pickleball courts in central Long Beach, and the twelve is the City's own arithmetic. Its line calls Veterans Park, 101 E. 28th St., a "Hybrid location: 8 pickleball courts on 1 tennis court and 4 dedicated pickleball courts."
Read moreShow less
The park's own page does not mention pickleball at all. Its amenity list carries basketball courts, a baseball field, a community centre, picnic areas, a playground, a soccer field, "Tennis Court", a volleyball/soccer court and restrooms. The City's history records a 14.3-acre site named Veterans Memorial Park on 19 August 1952 and completed in April 1958.
Getting there
101 E 28th St, Long Beach, CA 90806, Los Angeles County. The address is from the City's pickleball page; the park page prints none. The US Census address geocoder matched "101 E 28TH ST" at house-number level in the incorporated place Long Beach city.
The City publishes nothing about parking. Restrooms are in the amenity list, and the history mentions a freestanding restroom. The hours printed on the page do not say what they govern and are not attached to the courts here.
What to expect
Twelve courts on paper and something between four and twelve in practice. The four dedicated courts are pickleball courts whenever you arrive. The other eight are "8 pickleball courts on 1 tennis court", and the City's rule for shared courts governs them: first come, first served, "and court signage regarding shared use must be observed". If a tennis game is on that court, the eight are not available, and the City publishes no schedule saying when that will be.
The City lights the softball, baseball and soccer fields in its history and says nothing about lighting the tennis court or the pickleball courts, so lighting is recorded as unknown and daylight is the plan. No price is stated, no surface, no court hours, and no indoor or outdoor word.

- Twelve pickleball courts, and the twelve is the City's own arithmetic: "Hybrid location: 8 pickleball courts on 1 tennis court and 4 dedicated pickleball courts." Eight are lines on a single tennis court, so what you find depends on who arrived first and whether a tennis game is on; four are pickleball courts in their own right. That makes Veterans the largest published pickleball venue in Long Beach by count, and the one with the most ambiguity built into the number. The park is 14.3 acres in central Long Beach with a community recreation centre, a lighted softball field, a lighted baseball field, a lighted soccer field, four basketball courts and two tennis courts on the City's history of the site; the park page does not mention the pickleball courts. Price, lighting and surface are not stated.

Questions about Veterans Park
How many courts are there?
Twelve, the City's own sum: "8 pickleball courts on 1 tennis court and 4 dedicated pickleball courts." Four are dedicated; eight are lines on one tennis court.
What does "Hybrid location" mean?
The City's word for a park with both kinds of court. Here it means four dedicated pickleball courts and one tennis court striped for eight more, shared under court signage.
Is it free?
Not stated. First come, first served is a play format, not a price, and the City publishes no fee either way for its park courts.
Do you run Veterans Park?
What claiming does and does not doShow less
You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.
It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.
Something wrong here?
If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
