Outdoor Pickleball Courts in Cary, NC

Why this matters here

Every pickleball court in Cary is outdoor, so this page lists the same three venues the city page does. That is worth a sentence rather than an apology, because the indoor half of Cary pickleball is real and deliberately absent. The Town of Cary rents three indoor courts in the South Gym at Middle Creek Community Center ($10 per hour per court, $15 with a ball machine, eight players maximum, social play only) on a seasonal timetable that runs Thursday and Friday afternoons and Saturday lunchtimes from March to October, and shorter hours through the winter. We can quote all of that. What the town does not print on that page is a street address, and a venue does not publish here without one, so Cary has an indoor pickleball programme and no indoor venue page. The same rule keeps Cary Tennis Park and its four lighted courts off the site. Neither absence is a gap in Cary's provision; both are gaps in what Cary publishes.

What puts a venue on this list

A venue appears here when a source places its courts outdoors. For all three Cary parks that rests on the setting the town describes rather than on the word "outdoor", and we would rather say so than imply a quotation that does not exist. Each is a public park whose hours the town gives as sunrise to sunset (Ed Yerha Park flatly, Carpenter Park and the McCrimmon Parkway park with an extension for approved activities in lighted areas), and each lists its courts among features like playgrounds, picnic shelters, paved loop trails and open play fields. Sunrise-to-sunset hours are not a thing an indoor court has. On that basis the outdoor court count for each venue is recorded as equal to its total. What is not recorded is a zero for indoor courts at any of them, because none of these pages says there are none, and writing zero would turn an absence of evidence into a checked fact. The distinction matters more in Cary than it might elsewhere: the town runs indoor pickleball a few miles away at Middle Creek, so "no indoor courts here" and "no indoor courts published" are genuinely different claims about the same town.

Are all of Cary's pickleball courts outdoor?

Ed Yerha Park and Carpenter Park state nothing about lighting on their courts, so we record it as not stated rather than absent. Is there a covered court in Cary?

Not among the three parks here. Cary Tennis Park has seven covered courts, but they are tennis courts, and that venue does not publish on this site anyway for want of an address. None of the three parks states a covered or sheltered court.
