Pickleball Courts in Wichita, KS

The City of Wichita publishes nothing about parking at any of the ten venues on this page. The word does not appear on its Pickleball page, which gives each venue a name, a street line, in most cases a phone number, and a count. Restrooms are not mentioned for any venue either.

Six of the ten venues are recreation centres, and each carries a phone number on the City's line. For those the question is less where to leave the car than whether the gym is set up for pickleball when you arrive. Brewer is printed as "(Closed for Improvements)", which settles the question there for now.

Wichita states hours for none of its ten venues. The Recreation Centers tab links two PDFs, "View Summer Drop-In Hours" and "View Fall Drop-In Hours", and that is where the indoor sessions live. This site has not read them, so no session time is published here. Ring the centre before you go.

The word "Temporary" in the City's heading over those six centres is the hint: courts laid out in a gym for a session, not courts that stand all day. Brewer's line reads "Brewer (Closed for Improvements)" with no reopening date. Riverside Tennis Center is the exception: "9 outdoors with court lights for night play" is the City's own line, and it is the only Wichita venue where after-dark play is a published fact.

The City names surfaces, and no venue here carries one. The Parks tab prints a single heading over four parks: "Outdoor courts with hard / concrete surfaces". The Recreation Centers tab prints one over six centres: "Temporary indoor courts with wood and tile surfaces". Each names two materials and covers several venues at once without saying which venue has which, so Seneca Park's six courts may be hard court or concrete, and Linwood's three may be wood or tile.

Riverside's six indoor courts come with the only condition-like note on the page: "these are double-striped over the 3 tennis courts". Nothing is said about cracks, resurfacing or the age of any court.

Fifty-three courts across ten venues, thirty-one outdoors and twenty-two inside. Wichita is the first Kansas city on this site, and the second, after Cary, North Carolina, whose source could not be fetched by any script. It is one of the few operators here that states, on one page, which venues are indoor and which outdoor for every venue it lists.

Edgemoor Park is the largest venue with fifteen courts, twelve outdoors on the Parks tab and three in the recreation centre at the same address. Riverside Tennis Center matches it with nine lit outdoor courts and six indoor.

The City's introduction says the game "is a good fit for mature adults". It names no club, no open-play group and no league. Sherwood Glen appears at the foot of the Parks tab as "1 striped without net (portable net required)" with no street line, and a venue with no address does not publish.
