About this place

Four pickleball courts on the tennis courts of a neighbourhood park in the far south-west of Naperville, unlit, with the nets already there.

Read moreShow less

The Park District's whole pickleball record for this park is one sentence: "Ashbury Park has 4 unlit courts using tennis nets". Four courts is enough for two games at once. "Unlit" is a stated negative rather than a silence. "Using tennis nets" means there is a net on the court when you arrive, a tennis net at tennis height.

The District also lists a ballfield, fishing, ponds, parking spaces and trails. A multi-use trail runs east-west from Ashbury Greenway to Book Road and along the shoreline of the pond on the south side of the park.

Getting there

1740 Conan Doyle Road, Naperville, IL 60564. The US Census address geocoder matched "1740 CONAN DOYLE RD, NAPERVILLE, IL, 60564" at house-number level and placed it in Will County, in the incorporated place Naperville city. Naperville straddles two counties on the Census's own answers, and this is the published venue on the Will side.

The District lists "Parking Spaces" among the amenities and publishes no map, capacity or fee. It lists no restrooms here, which is recorded as unknown rather than as a no.

What to expect

Four courts, unlit, nets in place. Two games can run side by side, and play ends with the daylight on the District's own word.

This is the simplest venue in Naperville to turn up at, because there is nothing to bring. "Using tennis nets" also means the courts are lines on tennis courts, so they exist only as long as the tennis courts are free.

The District publishes no hours, no price and nothing about when the courts are busy. It states on its Park It page that the courts are outdoor. On Ranchview Park's page it remarks that "The tennis courts at Ashbury Park have a cushioned overlay system over asphalt", a statement about the tennis courts made on another park's page and not published here as this venue's pickleball surface.

Four pickleball courts on the tennis courts of a neighbourhood park in the far south-west of the city, in one District sentence: "Ashbury Park has 4 unlit courts using tennis nets". Three facts in seven words. The courts are unlit, so play ends with the light; they use the tennis nets, so there is nothing to bring; and there are four of them, enough for two games at once. The District's Ranchview page adds, in passing, that "The tennis courts at Ashbury Park have a cushioned overlay system over asphalt" - a surface remark made about the tennis courts on another park's page, and not published as this venue's surface. Ashbury is the one published Naperville venue the Census places in Will County rather than DuPage. No hours or price are stated; the park lists parking spaces and fishing ponds among its amenities.

Questions about Ashbury Park

Do I need to bring a net?

No. The courts are "using tennis nets", so a net is there when you arrive, a tennis net at tennis height.

Is it free?

Not stated. The District publishes no price and no hours, so the fee is recorded as unknown rather than as free.

Do you run Ashbury Park?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
