About this place

Two outdoor pickleball courts with nets, "2 courts with net tie-downs", in the park that shares its grounds with the Sue Herndon McCollum Community Center. It is the one venue in Tallahassee where the City says you can borrow the kit: "paddles and balls available inside the Sue McCollum Community Center only during regular office hours". The courts are first come, first play only.

Read moreShow less

The centre's own page describes Lafayette Park as a 22-acre park with a recreation centre, an Arts and Crafts Center, a playground, a softball field, tennis courts, a picnic shelter and a one-mile trail. Its hours, the hours that govern the paddles, are Monday to Friday 9:00am to 9:00pm and Saturday 1:00pm to 9:00pm. The page states nothing for Sunday.

Getting there

501 Ingleside Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32303, as the City's pickleball page writes it, and the City writes it two ways. The Sue McCollum Community Center's page, for the building on the same grounds, prints "501 Ingleside Avenue", and the US Census address geocoder agrees with the centre, matching "501 INGLESIDE AVE, TALLAHASSEE, FL, 32303" at house-number level in Leon County inside Tallahassee city. OpenStreetMap holds no Ingleside Drive at that number, so there is one street here under two City spellings.

The City says nothing about parking. The centre's phone number is 850-891-3946.

What to expect

Two first come courts with nets, no session and no price, and a community centre beside them that lends paddles and balls during office hours. That makes this the one Tallahassee venue where arriving with nothing is a plan, provided you arrive between 9:00am and 9:00pm on a weekday or after 1:00pm on a Saturday. Outside those hours the courts are still there and the kit is not. The 90 minute limit applies when others are waiting.

No fee answer is published, because the City schedules neither Open Play nor Reserved Play here. Lighting is not stated and surface is not stated. For a rotation rather than a game, the City's free Open Play is at LeVerne Payne and Tom Brown.

Do you run Lafayette Park?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
