Best if you want a real pickleball court

Sands Park has four dedicated pickleball courts (not tennis courts lent to the game) in a park with walking paths, a putting green, a burrowing owl habitat and a butterfly garden. Free. The one thing the City does not say about it is whether the courts are lit, so plan for sunset until that changes.

Best if you play in daylight and want to know what you are getting

Giuffrida Park has two dedicated pickleball courts and the City states outright that there are no lights, so it closes at sunset. It is the only Cape Coral venue counted twice by the City, on the sports page and on the park's own page, and at 3.7 acres it is the oldest neighbourhood park in the city. Free, with restrooms.

Four of the five do list restrooms: Camelot, Giuffrida, Jim Jeffers and Joe Stonis. Sands Park's page does not list them, which is recorded as unknown rather than as a no. The sites differ in size. Jim Jeffers sits on 18.7 acres in north-west Cape Coral, with four lighted soccer fields, lighted basketball courts, three picnic pavilions and a three-acre lake. Joe Stonis is seven landscaped acres around a one-acre lake. Camelot is 6.4 acres with a walking trail. Giuffrida, at 3.7 acres, was the first neighbourhood park the City ever built.

When to turn up

Cape Coral splits in two on timing, and the City draws the line itself. Camelot Park, Jim Jeffers Park and Joe Stonis Park have lights and are "open until 9:00 p.m. daily". Giuffrida Park has no lights, stated outright. Sands Park is not marked either way.

The general rule covers the rest: park courts are open "from sunrise to sunset (or later for locations with lighting)". So a weekday evening game is possible at three of these five venues and ruled out at one. What the City never publishes is when any of this is busy. No league night, no morning rush, no rotation rule.

What you will actually find

Camelot, Jim Jeffers and Joe Stonis are convertible. The City writes each of them as "Two (2) tennis courts -OR- Four (4) pickleball courts", one pair of slabs in two configurations, so what you find depends on how they are set up and who arrived first. Giuffrida and Sands have "dedicated pickleball courts" in the City's own words, six between them. The City states flatly that Giuffrida has no lights, which is why Sands Park's missing lighting answer is recorded here as not stated rather than assumed.

Getting into a game

Twenty courts across five parks, every one of them free. That last part is rarer than it should be: this directory records a price only when an operator publishes one, and Cape Coral is one of only seven cities on the whole site with a free court, because the City states it plainly: its park pickleball courts are "available for public use at no charge". Three venues stay open to 9 p.m., and six of the twenty courts are dedicated pickleball rather than converted tennis.

The City also lists a venue called The Courts with "32 dedicated pickleball courts and 12 tennis courts", publishes no address for it and gives it no park page. Cape Coral is the first Florida city in this directory and the first in Lee County.

How many pickleball courts does Cape Coral have?

More than we can put a source to. Twenty are confirmed across five City parks: six at Jim Jeffers, four each at Camelot, Joe Stonis and Sands, and two at Giuffrida. The City separately names a facility called The Courts with 32 dedicated pickleball courts. The two counts describe different places, and The Courts is not listed here because the City publishes no address for it.

Is it free to play in Cape Coral?

Yes at all five venues here, and the City says so rather than leaving it to be assumed: its park tennis and pickleball courts are "available for public use at no charge". Cape Coral is one of only seven cities on this site with a free court, with Portland, Scottsdale, Boulder, Tallahassee, St. George and Mount Pleasant. Four Freedoms Park, which is not published here, charges $5 per person.
