Lighted Pickleball Courts in Irvine, CA

Why this matters here

Every pickleball court in Irvine is lit, so this page holds all three published venues: eight courts at Mike Ward Community Park, six at Portola Springs Community Park and four at Heritage Community Park, eighteen in all. What makes the record trustworthy is how the City writes it. On its pickleball page the count and the lighting arrive in the same clause: "eight lit pickleball courts", "six lit pickleball courts", "four lit pickleball courts". In each park's amenity list they arrive together again, as "8 Lighted Pickleball Courts", "6 Lighted Pickleball Courts" and "4 Lighted Pickleball Courts". Two City records per venue, both carrying the lighting. The word lit is attached to an hours statement. All three parks are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily on their own pages, and the reservation windows at Mike Ward and Portola Springs run until 10 p.m. too. A sixteen-hour window, six of it after a working day, is what lighting means here.

What puts a venue on this list

A venue appears here when the City of Irvine states that its pickleball courts are lit, and all three published venues do, twice each. The City's pickleball page carries the sentence, and each park's amenity list carries the number with the word Lighted in front of it. One venue that would qualify is not here. Los Olivos Community Park is described as "two lit pickleball courts" on the pickleball page and again on the regulations page, and as "3 Lighted Pickleball Courts" on the park's own page. The lighting is stated every time; the count is not the same twice, so Los Olivos is refused from the whole site rather than from this page alone. The hybrid tennis and pickleball courts the City places at Heritage, Knollcrest, Los Olivos, San Carlo, Turtle Rock and University do not qualify either. The City gives them only a city-wide total, ten on one page and nine on the other, and no per-park count. Whether they are lit is not something the City says of them.

How late can I play under lights in Irvine?

Until 10 p.m., daily, at all three parks, which is the closing hour on each park's own page. The reservable courts at Mike Ward and Portola Springs can be booked up to 10 p.m. as well.

Do the lit courts cost anything?

The City states no price for fourteen of the eighteen. Courts #3 and #4 at Mike Ward and #5 and #6 at Portola Springs can be reserved at $17 an hour for residents and $19 for non-residents. The City never writes the word free.

Why is Los Olivos Community Park not on this page?

Its courts are lit on every City record, but the City counts them as two on two pages and three on a third. A venue with two published counts does not publish here at all.
