About this place

Six courts, and the City shows its working: "two dedicated pickleball courts; 2 dual striped (can be used as 4 pickleball courts)". Two plus four. That sentence is why this venue publishes as six rather than four, and the arithmetic is the City's.

Read moreShow less

On the ground this is two venues. Two of the courts are pickleball courts whatever else is happening. The other four are a pair of tennis courts with pickleball lines, which are pickleball courts only when nobody is playing tennis on them, and at scheduled times, when Pickleball Lincoln, Inc. has them reserved.

Densmore is 61.54 acres south of S 14th and Old Cheney Road, with four rentable baseball fields, a basketball court, a soccer field, an outdoor gym, trails and restrooms. The park's own page in Parks A to Z never mentions pickleball; its Features list reads "Tennis Courts". The count rests on the City's Tennis and Pickleball page alone.

Getting there

6701 S. 14th Street, Lincoln, NE 68512, matched by the Census address geocoder to Lincoln city, Lancaster County. The Tennis and Pickleball page prints it as "6701 S 14th St".

The City publishes one parking number here, and it is for something else: "200 parking stalls", stated in the section about renting the park's four baseball fields. On a 61-acre site that is a car park serving a ballfield complex, and the City does not say whether it is the one you want for the courts. Parking here reads not stated.

What to expect

Two courts you can count on and four that depend on the day. Open 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. If you are coming for a specific number of courts, this is the Lincoln venue where that plan is least safe.

Pickleball Lincoln, Inc. schedules programming here, and the City states that during those times the dual-use courts "are reserved for pickleball play", with the public welcome to join. So the scheduled hours are the hours when all six are pickleball courts.

The park's page reads "Lights: MUSCO (2000). Tournament quality", under the heading "DENSMORE PARK FIELDS", describing the four baseball fields the City rents out. Lit ballfields are not lit pickleball courts, so lighting here is not stated.

Six courts, and the City spells out how it gets to six: "two dedicated pickleball courts; 2 dual striped (can be used as 4 pickleball courts)". So two of them are pickleball courts and four of them are a pair of tennis courts wearing pickleball lines, which means what you actually find depends on whether anyone is playing tennis. The park is open 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. daily. As at Ballard, the park's own page in Parks A to Z does not mention pickleball. Its Features list stops at "Tennis Courts", so this count rests on the City's Tennis and Pickleball page alone. Pickleball Lincoln, Inc. schedules programming here, and during those times the dual-use courts are reserved for pickleball.

Questions about Densmore Park

So will I find six courts?

You will find two for certain. The other four are two tennis courts with pickleball lines, so they are pickleball courts when nobody is playing tennis on them, and reserved for pickleball during Pickleball Lincoln's scheduled programming.

Are there restrooms?

The park's Features list includes Restrooms, and the ballfield section describes "Permanent restroom in center of complex". Whether that is near the courts is not stated.

Do you run Densmore Park?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
