About this place

Two outdoor pickleball courts in a 13-acre park acquired in 1906, the second oldest on this site's Louisville pages after Iroquois, which the record places in the Highlands. The City's amenity list includes "Historic Property", an entry that appears at no other published Louisville venue, and the City does not say on the page what the property is. Two courts is a game rather than a rotation.

The full list is basketball, grills, historic property, a multi-purpose field, a path, pickleball, picnic shelters, picnic tables, a playground, restrooms, a sprayground, tennis, a tot lot, walking and WiFi. Pickleball is one word on it without a number; the two is the pickleball page's.

Getting there

1501 Castlewood Ave, Louisville, KY 40204. The US Census address geocoder matched the address at house-number level and placed it in "Louisville city", the Census's name for addresses inside the pre-merger city. The City publishes nothing about parking. Restrooms are on the amenity list, and at 13 acres the address is close to everything in the park.

What to expect

Two courts, outdoors, in a small old park. Hours are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. on the park page, park hours rather than court hours, and lighting, price, surface and nets are not stated.

Two courts is one game each: a four plays, an eight waits, and there is no published session here to suggest a rotation forms. For a larger game the City's list has six courts at Wyandotte Park in 40215. What the City lists beside the courts is a park for a neighbourhood rather than for sport, with a tot lot, a playground, a sprayground, a path and picnic shelters, and basketball and tennis alongside. If the two courts are the tennis courts with a second set of lines, the City has not said so.

Questions about Tyler Park

How many courts are there?

Two, on the City's pickleball page. The park's own page lists pickleball among its amenities without a count. Two courts is a game, not a rotation.

What is the historic property?

Not stated. "Historic Property" is an entry on the park's amenity list, the only one in published Louisville, and the City's page does not say what it refers to.

Is it free?

Not stated. The City publishes no price for any Louisville pickleball court, and this site does not assume a park court is free.

Do you run Tyler Park?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
