About this place

Montlake Playfield holds a single court, and it is one of only two Seattle venues where the pickleball surface is shared with basketball rather than tennis. That matters more than the usual tennis sharing does: a tennis court with pickleball lines is at least a racquet-sport surface with a net post in roughly the right place, whereas a basketball court with pickleball markings is a different proposition, and the city records nothing about how nets are handled on it. The court count and address both matched the imported record.

Getting there

Seattle Parks gives 1618 E Calhoun St and records dedicated parking with a seasonal restroom. Dedicated parking on a single-court site is unusual in this set; it reflects the parking serving the whole playfield rather than the court. No capacity or restriction detail is published.

What to expect

One court, no lights, shared with basketball, and nets not recorded either way by the city. Given the shared use and the silence on nets, this is a venue to bring a portable net to unless you have been before and know otherwise. One court means one game. The city also publishes no surface type, no fee, no hours and nothing about demand. A basketball surface with pickleball lines and no net is not a pickleball court in any useful sense, and which of those you would find is not known.

Questions about Montlake Playfield

Is this a proper pickleball court?

It is a shared-use court recorded by Seattle Parks as basketball and pickleball. Only two Seattle venues are recorded that way. Expect basketball markings and pickleball lines on the same surface.

Are nets provided?

Unknown. The city does not record nets here, and on a basketball-shared surface that is a question worth resolving before you travel.

Is there a better option nearby?

Miller Playfield is the closest substantial venue, with five courts under lights on Capitol Hill, on a tennis-shared surface with nets recorded. Montlake offers one court whose net provision the city does not state.

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
