About this place

Gilman Playground in Ballard carries four courts striped for tennis and pickleball, and it is one of three Seattle sites where the city has formally restricted when you may play. In September 2025 Seattle Parks, working with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections, ran noise studies at this location and found play producing sound levels above the limits set in Seattle Municipal Code chapter 25.08. The result was a posted schedule with real enforcement behind it, which shapes both when the courts are open and how the neighbours are likely to feel about a loud evening game.

Getting there

The address Seattle Parks records is 923 NW 54th St, and the city records street parking rather than a dedicated lot. This is a residential Ballard block, and no capacity, permit or time-limit information is published for it, so read the posted signs. A seasonal restroom is recorded, so do not count on it out of season.

What to expect

Four courts, nets provided, and no lights recorded, which matters here because the posted hours run to 10 p.m. and nothing illuminates the court after dusk. Play is permitted 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. at weekends and city-observed holidays, in force since 15 September 2025. Those hours are enforced: a violation captured on timestamped photo or video results in a lock fitted to the courts for at least thirty days, and repeat violations make the lock permanent, after which the courts open only when staff are on site to unlock them.

Thanks. Your review is in the queue: a person reads every one before it appears here, so it will not show up straight away.

That review did not go through. It needs a star rating, a name and at least twenty characters of text.

We could not save that review just now. Try again in a little while.

Questions about Gilman Playground

Yes. Seattle Parks records nets at this location. The city records nets at seventeen of its twenty-five pickleball sites and says nothing either way about the other eight.

Do you run Gilman Playground?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
