About this place

Alki Playground carries four lit courts striped for tennis and pickleball, one of only five lit venues among the twenty-four we list in Seattle. It sits in West Seattle above the Alki shoreline. The court count and the address both matched the city record exactly. The imported record typed this venue as a dedicated pickleball facility; Seattle Parks records it as a park whose courts are shared between tennis and pickleball, which is a materially different thing to arrive at with a paddle and an expectation. The city's typing is the one published here.

Getting there

The address is 5817 SW Lander St. Seattle Parks records street parking rather than a dedicated lot, and a seasonal restroom. The city publishes no capacity or restriction data for the parking, so read the posted signs rather than trusting an assumption about a shoreline destination.

What to expect

Four courts, nets provided, lights, shared with tennis. No posted-hours order is recorded against this site. Among the five lit Seattle venues this is the only one with street rather than dedicated parking, which is the practical trade-off to weigh against Bitter Lake or Rainier Beach if you are driving to an evening game. The city publishes no surface type, no fee, no hours, no lighting hours, and nothing about how the courts fill on a summer weekend at a beachfront park.

Thanks. Your review is in the queue: a person reads every one before it appears here, so it will not show up straight away.

That review did not go through. It needs a star rating, a name and at least twenty characters of text.

Questions about Alki Playground

Is this a dedicated pickleball facility?

No, despite what some listings say. Seattle Parks records a shared tennis and pickleball surface. Expect tennis lines and shared use.

Is it the best lit option in West Seattle?

It is the only one. Delridge and Walt Hundley, the other two West Seattle sites, both have no lighting recorded. The trade-off is parking, which is street here rather than the dedicated lots at Bitter Lake and Rainier Beach.

Do you run Alki Playground?

What claiming does and does not doShow less

You can claim this listing and correct anything on it. To be clear about what claiming does and does not do: it gives you control of your own facts and a channel to reach us, and it is shown on the page as confirmed by the venue with the date you confirmed it.

It does not mark the listing verified, because a claim tells us who you are rather than checking what is here, and those are different things. It also buys no ranking, no sorting and no placement advantage over an unclaimed venue. The moment claiming bought position this would be an advertising product rather than a directory, and the whole promise would be gone.

Something wrong here?

If you play here and this is out of date, tell us. Corrections come with a source and a date attached, the same as everything else, and a correction that changes a court count gets checked against the city record before it goes live.
